The indicator gives the average of the total lengths of periods of care finished during the year for persons who have received hospital care in primary health care. The indicator covers hospital care in the public sector (municipalities, joint municipal boards and the state), as well as in private sector hospitals. It covers municipal health-centre wards led by general practitioners and GP-level inpatient care acquired by municipalities/joint municipal boards from elsewhere.
