Aineisto kattaa Liikenneviraston ylläpitämän maantieverkon. Tälle tietolajille inventoidaan teiden ja kevyen liikenteen väylien varrella sijaitsevat viheralueet. Maanteille on määritelty tieosuuskohtaiset viherhoitoluokat (tietolaji 322). Tällä tietolajilla kerrotaan viheralueiden tarkat alkamis- ja päättymiskohdat. Viheralueita on tietolajin 322 osoittamissa viherhoitoluokissa N1, T ja E. Jos viherhoitoalueluokassa N2 ta N3 havaitaan T1 tai E1 luokkaan kuuluvia alueita, kirjataan nekin tälle tietolajille. Viheralueet sisältävät yleensä useita viherkuvioita. Viheraluekuviot inventoidaan erikseen tietolajille viheraluekuviot (tl511). Viheralueesta voidaan tehdä karkea hahmotelma (kartta), josta käy ilmi alueen viherkuvioiden sijainti ja kuvion juokseva numero alueen sisällä.
