    Optællingerne er foretaget gennem udtræk fra bibliotekets register (lånerregistret). Når man bliver oprettet som låner, skal man bl.a. vælge tilhørsfilial (hvor vil man afhente reservationer mv.). Dette har vi altså krydset med postnummeret kobles til cpr.nummeret mv., som også fremgår af registret. Antallet af beboere i de forskellige områder er fundet frem til vha. Aarhus i Tal. Optællingerne foretages ikke med en bestemt ratio, men efter behov. Formålet med denne var bl.a. at sammenligne 2013 med 2006 for at se, hvad indførslen af NemBS (Borgerservice på Lokalbibliotekerne), Åbne Biblioteker (nogle biblioteker har også åbent uden bemanding), Kombiblioteker m.v. har betydet.
