Institutional care for people with intellectual disabilities mainly refers to care provided in so-called central institutions. This also includes other institutional units intended for people with intellectual disabilities, excluding group homes and other housing services, even if they have staff available 24 hours a day.The number of clients (on 31 Dec) includes all persons registered as clients at the end of the year, that is, clients for whom a bed place has been reserved, including those on leave or otherwise temporarily absent.
