Cases of Chlamydia Infection per 100,000 Inhabitants in Finland
Click here for a data sample
The indicator gives the number of cases of chlamydia infection diagnosed annually per 100 000 inhabitants. From 1995 onwards, cases of chlamydia infection were monitored based on notifications by both physicians and laboratories on positive chlamydia findings. Since 1999, the monitoring has been based on notifications by laboratories alone. The ratio of the number of cases in the Infectious Diseases Register to the overall morbidity caused by the microbe in the population varies between different diseases, which is a feature common to all infectious disease monitoring systems. Among other things, the ratio is affected by what proportion of those who have caught the disease seek treatment and what proportion of them undergo microbiological tests for identifying the pathogen. In addition to changes in the overall morbidity, changes in the number of cases may be due to changes in diagnostic practices used within the health care system. Values relative to population have been counted within Sotkanet using population from StatFin service of Statistics Finland.
